About this deal

In his book, Tracy describes each of those activities and habits as the 21 core principles of the Eat That Frog method. Some of the principles are things you need to do before you start using the method. Others are things you need to keep in mind as you practice the method to ensure you're always prioritizing your frogs. So it's best to familiarize yourself with all of the principles before you get started. Plan ahead. Make your list the night before or at the end of the workday. Let your subconscious process it while you sleep. Often you’ll wake up with great ideas to get the job done faster and better than you initially thought

If you already use priority levels in a different way, you can also use an “@frog 🐸” label to identify your most important task of the day. You can either pin the label directly to your favorites or create a filter with the query “@frog & today” to show you all tasks labeled @frog that are due today. Whatever you choose to do, over and over, eventually becomes a habit that is hard to break. If you start your day on low-value tasks, you’ll develop the habit of always starting on low-value tasks. Clear off your desk or workspace so that you only have one task in front of you. If necessary, put everything on the floor or on the table behind you. You just need one small mental push to get started on your highest value tasks. It’s like getting everything ready to prepare a complete meal, such as eating a big frog. In contrast, Eat The Frog forces you to focus on less, even when you know you can do more. Any day that you eat your frog is a good day. Furthermore, following the method means you’ll be making progress on something meaningful on a daily basis. Studies have shown that that kind of progress is a key motivator and predictor of happiness and engagement at work and can lead to a virtuous cycle of getting things done. We feel good when we follow through on the things we intend to do, which, in turn, makes it easier to continue doing them. When you experience a win first thing in the morning, you’re more likely to build momentum and good vibes to carry you through the rest of your workday. It takes full advantage of your best work hours

You cannot do everything but you can do those few things in which you excel. Those are the few things that can really make a difference. #11 Identify Your Key Constraints If you have two important tasks, or two frogs to eat, eat the worst one first—that is, start with the hardest task. Discipline yourself to start on the most important thing immediately and persevere to the end. Treat it as a personal challenge. When you work on your most important tasks at a high and continuous level of activity, you can actually enter into an amazing mental state called ‘flow.’”

Tracy references the 80/20 rule, also called the Pareto principle or the law of the vital few. It states that, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. Keep asking: What’s the one thing which, if I did really well, could create the biggest positive impact in my work and life? Apply this question to find the best thing to do every hour, starting right now. Eat That Frog: 21 Steps Set a deadline for achieving it: Set an overall deadline plus sub-deadlines for steps toward your goal. A goal needs definite deadlines with specific responsibilities to be completed—otherwise, you’ll procrastinate and get little done. The Pomodoro Technique” by Francesco Cirillo: Both techniques share the goal of breaking down tasks into manageable chunks and taking regular breaks to maintain focus and productivity.Apply the 80/20 Rule: Identify the 20% of tasks that contribute 80% of your desired results and focus on them. Think about your goals and review them daily. Every morning when you begin, take action on the most important task you can accomplish to achieve your most important goal at the moment.” Technology has enormous benefits, but if you don’t take control of it, it may end up controlling you. Start with a list of everything you have to do today. Place an A, B, C, D or E before each item on your list:
